Repotting without panic: prepare the task

Begin with a reason: why change the pot now? Write it down before buying materials. A clear reason makes the later record easier to interpret.

Decide before collecting tools

Review your plant’s condition and its care history. Use a repotting reference and species-specific guidance for the container and growing medium.

Preparation list

  • Species name and the guide you will follow.

  • Suitable container and growing medium.

  • Clean tools and a protected work surface.

  • A before photograph and a place for notes.

During the task

Arrange everything before starting. If you encounter something unexpected, stop to understand it instead of improvising from a short video intended for another species.

Record the result

Save the date, reason, materials and an after photograph from the same angle. Schedule a follow-up inspection and keep any species-specific aftercare instructions with the record.

A sentence to copy

“I changed the pot on … because … I used … At the next check I will review …” This gives later photographs the context that memory often loses.
